Rivet

Design: Stephen Bamford - Canada

Virtually every energy drink today is marketed towards youth culture, the kind that wants a quick buzz just to keep the fun going. What about the blue collar worker that just wants to have energy to get the job done or the fisherman that woke up at 3:00AM to get to the best fishing spot? RIVET is for them.

With fresh and delicious fruits, the yogurt  tastes better. That’s the idea of this product, having the same portions for those who want more fruit than the typical yogurt, just half and half. This pack could be re-used as a glass and the impact to ecology is reduced with this materials (glass and carton). The name FRTS & YGRT, taking out the vocals, the product could be read the same in english as in spanish.

Halls: Free Your Voice

Agency: Ogilvy - South Africa

Halls throat lozenges give you your voice back. So we launched the “Halls. Free Your Voice.” Promotion, where people could win their own radio ad to literally say whatever they wanted. On a very small budget, the competition needed a website that covered all the Terms & Conditions, yet still communicated the “Free Your Voice” concept. Our simple idea was to make every bit of text on the site out of digital, audio fridge poetry, so people could move all the words around to create, hear and share their own messages in millions of different ways. Now that’s freedom.

Smart Spaghetti Packaging

Design: Neil Fletcher - United Kingdom

My spaghetti packaging design stemmed from a project I was set on my degree course, we had to pick one of five difficult objects to package (spaghetti, marbles, an egg, a single rose or custard powder). The reason I chose Spaghetti was because I always find myself wasting spaghetti as I’d always cook too much, so I wanted to address that problem in some way.

There are already measuring devices for spaghetti on the market but nothing within the packaging itself, giving the consumer the spaghetti in 6 equal servings to save on waste, the packaging can then be re-used and kept forever. It was my aim to create something that was visually appealing but also addressed a problem and could serve as a useful aid in any kitchen.

DRY Soda

Seattle-based Turnstyle recently debuted a new identity, packaging and Web site to better reflect DRY Soda Co.’s reputation as a better-tasting and better-for-you soda. Bold, graphic silhouettes on clear bottles capture the essence of each flavor, while allowing the purity of the product to show through. The new design features DRY’s low calorie count on the neck of the bottle, the flavor represented by a graphic of the corresponding fruit, flower or herb at the center of the bottle and the signature of the founder, Sharelle Klaus.

Bouygues Telecom: Flashback Book Facebook App

Agency: DDB - Paris

Bouygues Télécom asked us at DDB Paris to come up with an idea to launch their facebook platform. They wanted us to create something that would go beyond using your profile picture in a funny way, or pranking your friends with a small joke. We decided to look at the way we use facebook and found that even though we use the social networking site everyday, we forget our favorite moments we share online. So we created an app that could change that, and keep your facebook, in a book. Facebook ads engaged people to participate in the creation of their books and receive a printed copy of their statuses and photos. You could chose up to 10 friends to add into your book, as well as the desired timeframe, whether it be your birthday, wedding, or from the very beginning of your profile. After only two days we received 15.000 fans and the limited edition of 1.000 books were gone in only an hour.

Levitra Gets A Lift (Yes, pun intended)

Design: Burgopak - United Kingdom

Thomas Proske, Global Brand manager for Levitra® at Bayer Healthcare says: “We chose the Burgopak design for our new Levitra formulation because it’s pocket-friendly, discreet and gives the product a playful edge over its competitors.  While it is patient safe and compliant, it also looks stylish and will appeal to our customers.”

Your Child Will Thank You Later

In an interview with Tangerine, Google's Ben Malbon shared this idea in response to the question:

What have you seen recently that you wish you were associated with (new product, service, advertising)?

I was talking to Robert Wong, the ECD at CreativeLab, not long ago in our office. He told me a story I’ve not stopped thinking about. A friend of his had opened a Gmail account when he had a child (I think, actually, even before they were born), in the child’s name. His friend had been writing emails to his son as a kind of record of his life as he grew up. They were now four or five years old. I thought this was awesome. Imagine if our parents had done that, how different our relationships with them might be?

Organ Donation: Queue

There are 300 people waiting for an organ in Finland and dozens of people die every year in vain. To make the point and to make people update their Facebook profiles, we made the queue visible. About 300 people lined up on a square in Helsinki. There were computers in front of the queue. Every time somebody would come to the desk and say “yes”, one person got out of the queue. The result: all Finnish television news showed up (TV1, FST, MTV3, Nelonen) as well as several newspapers and radio channels.

Vintage Twitter

With more than 100 million users worldwide, Twitter has over the recent years not only become a phenomenon, but a widely accepted tool to send short message to each other. Just like when we text each other on the phone, but visible to anyone. Amidst all this, Post-It celebrates 30 years in the business. What initially was considered a failed adhesive turned into maybe the most famous little piece of paper in history. Post-It became the standard for small, short messages and was used both between people and in public spaces, for anyone to see. Vintage Twitter is a loving homage to Twitter, with a reminder that the short message is not a new invention. The box, consisting of 500 Post-It notes (or vintage tweets) and a small pencil, was handed out at Disruptive Code, a conference for web developers in Stockholm, during autumn 2010.
